Design Manager

The MF Freeman Group is now looking to recruit a talented and creative Design Manager to co-ordinate the design process from inception to completion involving managing design consultants and liaison with the relevant statutory, approval and local authorities as well as chairing design meetings and offering cost effective sustainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate and integrate the activities of external design consultants from planning application through to project completion.
  • Fully investigate value engineering and value creation opportunities driving innovative ideas and cost-effective solutions into the design.
  • Support the production of a full technical pack of information for every development that is ready for commercial procurement by the Project Surveyor.
  • Progress design issues within a strict timescale ensuring designers meet information delivery dates.
  • Ensure that schemes are designed to suit MF Freeman’s sustainability initiative to reduce the negative impact on the Environment
  • Prepare design brief for each site to instruct consultants and liaise with sales department for suggested house type mix.

  • Ensure the consultant scope of services, responsibilities and fees are agreed.
  • Facilitate the completion of a project risk register.

Person Specification

A good knowledge of the building industry with 5 years’ experience in main contracting or residential new build with an architectural background preferable.
